In a joint initiative aimed at strengthening Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) enforcement and raising awareness, ALL IP CARE (New Delhi) in collaboration with the Kanpur Police successfully conducted a specialised workshop on "Role and Responsibilities of Police Personnel while Dealing with Intellectual Property Cases". The event was held on 12th July 2025 at the Commissionerate Office, Kanpur Nagar.
Focus of the Workshop
The primary objective of the workshop was to equip police officers with the legal knowledge, investigative tools, and practical approaches necessary to effectively handle IPR-related cases. The sessions covered key areas such as trademark violations, copyright infringement, counterfeiting, and brand protection.
Emphasis on Brand Security and Anti-Counterfeiting
Experts highlighted the growing need to safeguard brand identity and prevent the rise of duplicate and counterfeit products in the market. They underlined that strong IPR enforcement is not only a legal necessity but also an economic and ethical responsibility, especially in the context of today’s competitive business environment.
The workshop demonstrated how law enforcement can play a critical role in identifying and acting upon IP violations, thereby protecting genuine businesses and consumers alike.
Impact on Local Business and Startups
This initiative is expected to benefit entrepreneurs, startups, MSMEs, and industrial units in Kanpur, helping them better understand how to protect their intellectual assets. By promoting awareness and enforcement, the workshop aims to foster innovation, build consumer trust, and encourage business growth.
Acknowledgment of Police Support
ALL IP CARE extended sincere thanks to the Kanpur Police for their proactive cooperation and participation. The organisers emphasized that without the active involvement of law enforcement agencies, the fight against IP infringement cannot be successful.
Expert Insight
“Police awareness and engagement in IPR matters is more essential than ever before. Protecting brand value is not just about legal rights—it's about ensuring trust, economic stability, and fair competition,” stated one of the legal experts at the event.
